I work in an office that is almost exclusively female.  This is usually not a problem for me.
Today is different.
I come in, and before I take my seat, I hear the women complaining.  It seems, with only two exceptions, every one of their husbands/ boyfriends/ significant others/ whatever did nothing for Valentine's Day.  And it wasn't that they forgot, they actively (or passive-agressively) refused to participate.
And they are PISSED!
As I'm firing up my computer, I'm thinking to myself, "This is going to be a long fucking day...."
Suddenly, I feel the Eyes Of Judgement.  The spurned women had gathered around me.  "So, Peter, what did you do for your girlfriend yesterday?"
I don't have a girlfriend right now, but that won't bring me peace.  I bluff.  "Oh, not much.  She likes Somewhere In Time.  It's sappy, but I fried up some chops and we watched it together."
It was like reversing the polarity on a magnet.  They all shot off in different directions and are so far leaving me alone.  But I still hear them complaining.  It literally takes nothing to start the complaints.  One of them broke her watch band, and another chimed in, "That would have made a nice Valentine's gift."  "I would have been happy with flowers from the grocery store!  They're nice and they last a long time!"  "I just wanted a card!"
I don't forget Valentine's Day, but not for any romantic reason.  I have been long exposed to the ill will generated when guys forget.  It's called negative reinforcement.
So, guys, please, for your sake, for her sake, for the sake of the poor guy who has to work with her, PLEASE START REMEMBERING VALENTINE'S DAY, WILL YA?!?

I forgot about that...how some people view the special days as buying in for a few months instead of showing genuine affection all year round. Although, I hope they don't figure THAT out. From the sound of it, they'd never get any show of affection, so the complaints would never stop.
