A woman in Florida just had surgery to give herself a third breast.
I'll let that sink in for a second before I continue.
The woman you see as the very appropriate song "Creep" plays is one Jasmine Tridevil. She's 21 years old and her ambition is to have her own MTV show someday. And what better way to get the atttention of the suits than by adding a third breast to your chest?
The procedure cost $20,000 and she had to talk to about fifty doctors before one said yes. It's made with a silicone implant and skin grafts from her abdomen. They couldn't construct an aereola, so they tattooed one on there.
Lest you think this is just a publicity stunt, oh no. There is method to this madness. Tridevil wanted to become unattractive. "I got it because I wanted to make myself unattactive to men. Because I don't want to date anymore." This is akin to sawing off your feet because you don't want to polka. "Most guys would think the extra breast is weird and gross. But I can still feel pretty because if I wore makeup and cute clothes, I can still, you know...feel pretty." That sound you hear is Vivid adding her number to their speed dialer for about a year from now.
But all is not sunshine and rainbows. Tridevil is facing prejudice from her own family over her decision. "My mum ran out the door. She won't talk to me. She won't let my sister talk to me. My dad...he really isn't happy. He is kind of ashamed of me but he accepted it."
So, to all you parents out there who worry when their kids go through a goth or punk stage? That can be explained as rebellion and identity. Try explaining this.
