Con Job

For the most part, I'm not really interested in going to the San Diego Comic Con.  It just looks way too big and way too busy for my tastes.  I like the smaller shows, myself.  I would have gone last year because Stephan Pastis was there, signing books and meeting fans.  This year, Berke Breathed is there.  But those are the only reasons.

Well, a surprise also would have made it worthwhile.

Marvel was giving its presentation and it was the end and they were wrapping up when Sam Jackson came out.

The real Sam Jackson.  There are no substitutes.  P.S.  He apparently is working on a comic book.  No complaints about him, it's not only well established that he's a comic book fan (so he's actually wanting to make comic books, not just slap his name on something), but do YOU want to be the one to tell Sam Jackson he can't do something?

Jackson is onstage and starts revealing the cast of the Avengers movie.  So here's what we got:

Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Chris Evans as Captain America
Scarlett Johannsen (presumably Black Widow)
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man (who also introduced some of the cast)
Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner

I've never been a huge comic book fan although I've read Gaiman and Moore and some Star Wars comics. My husband however worked at a comic book store for 4 years and he always had the best stories when he came home about the customers. i would go just to people watch.

Gaiman and Moore? Ah, a blogger after my own heart....

Ah, yes. Comic book fanboys are an interesting lot, are they not? I love a crowd that can discuss the minutia of stories printed fifty years ago but can't name one of their two sitting Senators (true story).

Where does Sam Jackson make comic books? Anywhere he wants.
