Your friendly neighborhood mangaka will be appearing at the Chicago Entertainment Collectors Expo. No, not C2E2, this one predates them (it is their 10th anniversary, in fact). It will run Sept. 9-12, 2010. I will be there Friday through Sunday (preview night is 10PM to midnight. Maybe it's age, maybe it's laziness, but I don't have that in me right now), with Sound Waves, the Stress Puppy GN, Cloudburst, and maybe a copy or two of Lightning Strike. Not only that, but my Sound Waves picture "Good Hair Day" was accepted as part of the card set to raise funds for charity. See if you can score one. It's for a good cause.
So, supposing you don't want to see the sarcastic jackass. Who else will be there? Holy shit, lots. Let's start with comic creators. Paul Allan Ballard. Andy Broome. Jeff Clark. Katie Cook. John Czop. Dave Dorman. Alan Dyson. Darla Ecklund. Tess Fowler. Bruce Gerlach. Grant Gould. Chris Gutierez. Chris Henderson. Jessica Hickman. John Haun. Tom Kelly. Chris Kuchta. Jim Kyle. Kevin Leen. Russell Lissau. Leah Mangue. Warren Martineck. Randy Martinez. Mark McHaley. Manny Mederos. Tony Miello. Steven Miller. Trevor Mueller. Nathan Ohlendorf. Connie Persampieri. Bill Pulkovski. Brett Pinson. Jay Shimko. Uko Smith. Corbett Vanoni. Tom Jozwiak. Denise Vasquez. Show. Felix Silla, who played Twiki on Buck Rogers (if you were able to get your discs signed by Gil Gerard and Erin Grey at the ChicagoCon a couple of years ago, here's another to add). Erin Moran from Happy Days (and the less said about Joanie Loves Chachi, the better). And Caroline Munro. Most of you know her as the helicopter pilot in From Russia With Love. She was actually the only woman to become a contract player for Hammer Horror. Her role in Star Crash resulted in a crush that persists to this day. Don't get me wrong, I'm a gentleman and will conduct myself as such. But if I can only slip away for face time with one other attendee, it's gonna be her.
So come on by. There's gonna be lots of great stuff, lots of people to meet, and lots of fun. Plus, you can listen to me bitch about the comic industry in real time instead of reading about it here! Never gets old, right? Right? Anyone? Beuller?
So, hope to see you there!
