So, Bruce Wayne is returning from the dead.  Just like Captain America.

He was killed with a magic gun.  Just like Captain America.

But he was simply thrown into a time anomaly.  Just like Captain America.

Now, he's leaping from life to life, putting things right that once went wrong.  And hoping each time, his next leap will be the leap home....

...so, naturally, someone decided to have some laffs.

Well played, sirs.  Well played....

Captain America
Not at all. That's what happens when a character becomes so well realized to you.

(Side note: I do remember being a huge fan of Captain America myself. I never said I hate all superhero comics, I'm just not thrilled with what they've become.)

There are two schools of thought on Cap. First, there are the self-satisfied intelligentia, the people who think that their conclusions are automatically more right and valid than anyone else's. They regard Cap as jingoism personified (never mind that EVERY OTHER CULTURE IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND HAS NATIONALIZED HEROES AND THEY NEVER BITCH ABOUT THOSE). These people should be pitied.

Then there's the school of thought of people like myself, and it's that Cap is one of the true heroes. He participated in the Super Soldier experiments and does the Captain America thing because he's a hero and it's what heroes do. Cap is from a lost era when noble thoughts and deeds were what defined people, not psychological scars (remember: Bruce Wayne isn't defending the innocent, he is fighting projections of the people who murdered his parents. I believe that is considered psychosis). Someone that can be admired meeting a horrible fate? Not only is it normal for such a reaction to be triggered, it's validation of your humanity.

Unless you are wondering if you shouldn't be crying over the death of a fictional character. In that case, I have two words for you -- Old Yeller. I don't know anyone that didn't cry when Old Yeller got shot. You're in good company.
