Let's Take A Look At The Map....

Oh, dear.  We seem to have a problem.

People are blaming Sarah Palin for the shooting massacre that happened in Arizona yesterday.

Why?  Because of this:

People are saying that the crosshairs thing is what pushed this guy to snap, that he took the symbolism too literally.  How dare Sarah Palin do something so heartless and tasteless as using violent symbols to communicate election goals!  Why, no one else has....

...okay, that map from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee last year is just an aberration.  It is just a recent development, only happened once....

...okay, that image from the Democratic Leadership Committee is cute, but I'm trying to make a point here, that politicians do not use violent and inflammatory things just for campaign rhetoric....

"Get rid of the guy. Impreach him, censure him, assassinate him." -- Rep. James Hansen on Bill Clinton

Because she had "the taint," she should "be killed." -- John Derbyshire in the National Review on Chelsea Clinton

"We're going to keep building the party until we're hunting Democrats with dogs."  -- Phil Gramm

"I tell people don't kill all the liberals. Leave enough so we can have two on every campus – living fossils – so we will never forget what these people stood for."  -- Rush Limbaugh

"We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too." -- Ann Coulter

...okay, so people have been using hate speech for political purposes all along and maybe we can no more blame a political rallying image for this guy losing it than we can blame the Beatles for Charles Manson.  But can't we be allowed to be mindlessly self-righteous for a few minutes, please?  Our anger should be more important than the facts, goddammit!
