Oh...We Weren't Supposed To See This?

MSN is sort for "Micro$oft Network."

I just want to remind you that M$ has never been known for its timing.

MSN posted the following image relating to the upcoming X-Men:  First Class movie.  They then pulled it down, despite several pages directly referencing it.

So, it looks like this is our cast of characters....

Looks like the actress playing Emma Frost forgot to get dressed for the shoot...oh...wait....

I'm sorry, I'm just loving everybody looking all tough and serious and ready to strike fear in the hearts of their enemies while Frost looks like she wandered in from the Victoria's Secret show.  Yeah, I know that's the character, but it just looks really incongruous in this context.

Moira needs glasses. If that's supposed to be Moira (the one in green), anyway.

Who's that behind Mystique?

To tell you the truth, aside from Emma Frost (who is pretty obvious), I'm not really sure who is who there. I was debating if it was Mystique (given the movies never establish if there was previous history between Xavier and her), but in retrospect, who else could it be? If it's set in the early days as hinted by the Wolverine movie, it could very well be her.

In fact, the lack of recognizability is a key liability here. The first X-Men movie had characters that I knew and cared about. For example, Rogue was one of my favorites at the time. And the friction between Scott and Logan was pitch perfect (the "It's really me" gag is probably the best ever in that regard). Here, I'm looking at a bunch of blank slates (we never really got in Mystique's head like we did Rogue's) who might not have all that awesome powers.

I could still be surprised and it could still be great. I'm just not betting heavy money on it.

Looks like Beast way in the back, which is odd - he's such an iconic X-Men player that I feel he should be more forward in this picture. Especially in this cast of could-be-anybodies. Beast deserves better.

I liked Mystique from the films, even though she was never presented as much more than Magneto's super-efficient lackey. The scene between her and Nightcrawler (where he wags his tail) was one of the better moments from the films, and I was outraged by her ending.

Micro$oft - when you absolutely, positively, have to have a security breach by 9AM.
