Rob Granito -- The Gift That Keeps On Giving

I have been wrestling with this since I read the article.

I am torn between my love of poetic justice and my concerns over people being taken advantage of.

Remember the last post about how Josh Hoopes was talking to Rob Granito, telling Granito that Bleeding Cool had a vendetta against Hoopes for no reason and was trying to victimize Granito as well?

Well, here's the gag....

Hoopes is offering to represent Granito among UK editors and get him work in the comic industry there.

Granito believes it.

Alison G, Granito's wife/agent, has revealed to Rich Johnston at Bleeding Cool that Hoopes is going to help her husband become Somebody.  Just as soon as Granito pays up.  Hoopes says that UK editors charge reading fees and such, so if Granito will send Hoopes the money, Hoopes will get his stuff on their desks.  Johnston pointed out not only was that bullshit (and he would know, seeing as how he is honest-to-God British), not only has he had plenty of stuff published in the UK comics industry (including several Doctor Who comics), but Johnston also tried to get Alison G to check out the Josh Hoopes rap sheet, complete with links and documented proof, that their knight in shining armor is out to screw them.  She is refusing to listen, she and Granito trust Hoopes.

Did I just hear a "ka-ching?"

Like I said, I'm torn.  On the one hand, seeing Granito get shafted is delicious.  But on the other hand, he's still being taken advantage of, and the money is still going to one of the most evil beings in the comic industry.  I honestly don't know if I should feel sad that Granito is being willfully blind to what is coming, or if I should grab my banner and chant, "Go team!"

I think I'm going to be wrestling with this one for a loooooong time.
