Some Guys Have Lots Of Trouble Fingering The Beaver

I'm starting to think I'm never going to be able to see Mel Gibson's The Beaver.

So, two weekends ago was premiere weekend for the trainwreck.  But it only got a limited release, the big rollout was supposed to be this weekend.

Then the returns came in.  They were really bad.  Summit Entertainment, the distributor, said it would not go wide, just expand a little.

Next weekend -- it's running in Orland Park, not too far from some of my stomping grounds.

Friday, I get home to do some art before heading out.  Get on a roll, lose track of time, it's too late.

This Friday, I see it's still running in Orland.

I literally get to the ticket counter when my cell phone rings.  Friend of mine is in a bit of a scheduling bind and needs $40, can I get to him right away?  (He apologizes for pulling me from the theater.  I told him, "Dude, you took me away from seeing The Beaver.  It's not like you took me away from seeing, say, The Truman Show.")

Yesterday, I'm hanging with my teacher.  That takes priority over almost anything else on the planet.

I get online with the coders.  One of them, I know hangs out on the torrents (he's behind seven proxies!!1!)  and sometimes offers to get me movies.  I ask him if he can find a torrent of The Beaver.  He looks.  He says, no.  It doesn't exist on any of the torrents he goes to.  How bad does your movie have to be if no one wants to pirate it?!?

I'll try again this weekend, with a three dayer coming up, maybe I'll get lucky.  But Jesus, this is turning me into friggin' Don Quiote!
