The first panel was a throwaway joke I came up with but couldn't really think what to do with until now. I like how I depict Raff, a master of the corporate politics game. It's part of what assauges the guilt over the strip where Holly sounds a bit more like Raff than she should. People behave "out of character" all the time, but when things are good, they have it together.
For those who don't know, The Cruelest Miles is a book about the Serum Run in Alaska. I don't mean to shock the hell out of you, but the movie Balto got a few details wrong. I was reading the book, and the idea of Raff reading it just struck me as funny.
