My next convention appearance will be at the Chicagoland Entertainment Collectors Expo on September 16th and 17th. Those of you looking at your calendars and wondering, you aren't seeing things, it really is a Friday/Saturday convention.
CECE is a convention run by Paul Maiellaro, an incredibly nice and dedicated guy. The money from his conventions goes to the Pediatric Oncology Foundation, which supplies toys to sick kids in hospitals. He does a few different shows a year, but split them up a little to better juggle the schedule. This is the last one for this year. And I'm going to have a table there.
Things will kick off Friday night at 800PM and go to...well, who knows? Next day, there is a charity breakfast from 730AM to 815AM, early birds get to the show at 830AM, and it opens for the general public at 900AM.
The guest list is still being populated, but so far, Connie Persampieri (a good pal of mine), Tom Jozwiak, Jake Reuth, Ted Dastick, Jr, and Chris Foreman are going to be there. Last year, among the exhibitors was a guy who made a life-size Tom Servo. This year includes Don Troy, Ron Gahan, Thomas Jozwiak, who has built a life-size replica of H.G.Wells' Time Machine.
The show is at the Holiday Inn in Carol Stream, IL. 150 S. Gary Ave. From I-355, take North Ave. west approx. 4 miles, turn left at Gary Ave. Hotel is on the right.
Oh, and here's the group picture for last year. I'm sort of in the middle, back and to the right of Caroline Munro (wistful siiiiiiiiigh) and two back from Erin Moran. The only men better dressed than me are Richard Keil and Larry Elmore. I defy you to prove me wrong.
