Green Isn't Your Color

I don't "get" jealousy.  I don't understand it.  I can feel envy and jealousy at times, but it's a motivator for me, not an end result.

I've tried dismissing this stuff over the years as isolated and irrational, but it's starting to happen a smidge too often for my tastes.

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW A GUY WHO WENT TO ART SCHOOL, GRADUATED, IS A PRO GRAPHIC DESIGNER, WORKS FOR THE MIDS AND DONE A BIT OR TWO FOR THE BIGS, HAS A FAN FOLLOWING, AND SELLS MORE COPIES OF ONE COMIC THAN ALL MY STUFF COMBINED, CAN POSSIBLY BE JEALOUS OF MY WRITING, MY ART, AND MY OUTPUT?!?

Confidential to the mutual friend who tipped me off about this:  don't worry, I will always treasure my initial misconceptions about him.

Being jealous of your writing I can see. If it's who I think it is, jealousy of your output is silly as it is likely to be proportionate to his on a per-drop-of-ink basis (saying his has a lot more lines, and therefore takes longer to produce). Being jealous of your art... are you kidding me? No offence, but there is a HUGE difference in your art styles, and that is like Todd McFarlane saying that Stephan Pastis is the greatest artist of our time.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Pastis' work, but McFarlane is a spectacular artist.

Just sayin'.
