Not just another Spidey movie. This starts the film series over. So yes, after less than a decade, they are remaking the original. Just like they are planning on doing with the Fantastic Four.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Sony is counting on the name recognition and that Spider-Man 3 pulled in nearly $400 mil at the box office. If this film limps across $200 mil, not only will it not finish in the black (special effects and advertising can easily push a film budget past $200 mil, like with Green Lantern), but Sony will be in serious trouble for letting Raimi go. Raimi had buzz behind him and people still looking forward to his movie, and with him, you can expect it to hit about $400 mil.

Rebooting Spider-Man is a gamble. A gamble I'm glad I don't have a stake in.
