Needless to say, this news story did not come as a surprise to me: the League of American Voters has created a 30 second ad spot criticizing Obamacare. ABC is refusing to run it on the grounds that it is "partisan". No shit.
First, here's the ad in question...
CBS is running the ad (CBS' viewership skews older anyway, the very people who are concerned about Medicare going bye-bye). NBC, whose cable networks are Obama's biggest cheerleaders, is thinking it over, asking for a couple of adjustments here and there. ABC, however flat out refuses, saying, per spokeswoman Susan Sewell, "The ABC Television Network has a long-standing policy that we do not sell time for advertising that presents a partisan position on a controversial public issue. Just to be clear, this is a policy for the entire network, not just ABC News." My, how things have changed since June.
Also, sociologists are saying that we Obamacare detractors' arguments lack "logic." You know, sort of like the health plan we're fighting.
