Dispatches From The Front

1)  I checked my polling station just before it closed.

252 voted today.

I feel like crying.

2)  I told my dad I'm voting in the primaries (voted for Ron Paul, by the by).

"I don't vote in primaries."

Well, no wonder you get stuck with such suck ass candidates.  You don't vote, you lose your right to bitch.

"Well, years ago, if you voted in a primary, you could only vote for that party in the general elections."

...whut?

"They've changed it since then."

So what's your excuse for not voting now?

Daddy isn't speaking to me at the moment....

"Well, years ago, if you voted in a primary, you could only vote for that party in the general elections."

Huh? I've been switching parties in the primary for a couple decades.

"You don't vote, you lose your right to bitch."

I told a guy at work this same thing. I then pointed out that I DO vote, and that's why I bitch so much.

I too voted for Ron Paul... I'm sure this comes as a surprise.

I know, right? I've never been limited by who I vote for in the primary, and I've been voting since 1988. And remember, my first vote was for Bo Gritz of the Populist Party.

You?!? Voted for Paul?!? Why didn't you tell me sooner?!?

I've never known it to be like that, and I've been voting since I became eligible in 1988. I'm not convinced that that was ever true anyway, since that would mean that the elections would be decided during the primaries instead of the national election, and there would be no point to write-in candidates. Or, if that was indeed the case, there has to be more to it than that.

There's a serious problem with how they teach us about the voting process in school. I STILL don't quite understand it. And I'll be voting for the first time this year. D:

I don't know for who yet, but definitely not Rick Santorum. Hell, no. As to the other candidates, I know about jack shit about them other than most of the Republicans appear to be completely insane. So, I'mma have to do some research~

...well...you got me there.... ;-)

Okay, you got me. I didn't vote for Paul. I voted for Huntsman. He just seems so trustworthy to me. ;-)
