As I write this, I have just sent off the email pulling the trigger on the interview with the newspaper.  Sorry, but if they insist that I abandon my right to privacy for a potentially minor blip in sales (maybe 15 copies?) in exchange for potentially losing my job and everyone knowing what I'm doing (especially since I live in a heavily religious community that maaaaaaaaaaybe won't be so open minded about the points I make in the Hannah Singer books), it has to be this way.

Now, don't cry for me, LJ Friends list.  Don't forget, C2E2 is coming up in just over a week.  Ever since the inaugural year, something with potential has always happened at C2E2 and Wizard World, including people reviewing my work as a potential penciler for their series (which totally blows my mind), and I still am working on other gigs to get the name out there and boost my audience.

In other words, sucks that I lost a golden opportunity.  That makes it my job to make new ones.  And I will.

Oh, and confidential to certain friends -- thank you, and thank you for not being mad at me.

You said not to cry for you, so I won't. But I will say that I'm sorry the situation didn't work out for you. It doesn't make any sense to me at all. I mean, what is the use in having a pen name if publications are going to disregard it? :/

Anyway, here is to better golden opportunities. ♥

I appreciate the well wishes.

There'll be more opportunities. When you think about it, I've actually gone a lot further than someone hemmed in like I am has a right to. I have faith in my future self. ;-)

Well its good that you're optimistic about it.

I have to be optimistic. The only other option is to succumb to the frustration and quit. And I ain't about to do that.

A lesson I periodically forget is that success is not linear. It ebbs and flows like the tide, and the trick is to keep more than you lose. So far this year, I have a publisher picking up one of my comic book series, I'm an official correspondent for Bleeding Cool with at least two more reports coming this year, and I'm finding myself on a bunch of conventions' short lists of guest that have interesting stuff and don't act like dickheads. I'm off to a great start this year, bombing out on an interview won't hurt me too much.
