So, there's this very funny fellow from Chicago by the name of Aaron McGruder. Comic vets and fans of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim know him as the creator of The Boondocks, the only show with a satirical edge sharp enough to rival South Park. One of the funniest bits from the show was a fantasy that Martin Luther King Jr. wasn't dead, just frozen, and his "modernization" was not only gutbustingly funny, but made a powerful point about black culture in relation to dignity. I know lots of people love Dave Chappell, but no. McGruder does it way better.
McGruder has become less hands-on with The Boondocks lately, putting his effort into a new show.
And if you know McGruder, you know what you're in for. It'll beat the shit out of whatever show they are cooking up for Triumph The Insult Comic Dog. It debuts August 7.
So, can we guess what has the AFA all riled up?
"The foul language used in the trailer, including repeated uses of the Lord's name in vain, the f-word and the s-word is disgusting. In addition, there is violence, gunfire, drugs and other inappropriate gestures which completely misrepresent Jesus." One could say the same about the AFA, but I digress. "Please send an email letter strongly encouraging TBS president David Levy, and Cartoon Network and Adult Swim president Christina Miller, to drop all plans to air the anti-Christian program 'Black Jesus.' Tell them you are prepared to join thousands of other voices in urging program advertisers to pull their ads from the network in protest of this anti-Christian bigotry."
So you folks know what to do. Set your Tivo's. ;)
