This weekend was the Denver ComicCon. It broke records and is becoming a major mover and shaker in the comics field.
And they had a Women In Comics panel hosted entirely by guys.
Not one single woman was on the panel.
I would like to point out that the con had, among its guests, Trina Robbins, one of the most eminent authorities on women in comics. And she wasn't on the panel.
DCC had this to say to Comics Alliance -- "In regards to the Women in Comics panel, I think it’s important to point out that it was a panel that took an historical view of women characters in comic books rather than the current role of women creators in the industry or diversity in comics — of which DCC has many with appropriately diverse panels. The Women in Comics panel was a submitted panel that featured respected academics on the subject." Yeah. That's not helping.
It would seem so obvious that a Women In Comics panel should include women, I don't see how they could have possibly missed it. And you know there are comic fans saying this isn't proof of a gender bias against women, people are just looking to stir up trouble. You can go fuck yourselves.
